Ideally set in the hinterland of the French Riviera, La Colle sur Loup is a charming village with a warm human atmosphere. Lots of famous designers and artists have settled down here to enjoy its tranquil and high quality of life. In the late 19th century, La Colle sur Loup was called “La Cité des roses”. The wonderful “Centifolia” is still being grown here for the exclusive benefit of the famous perfume “Chanel No 5”.

On the opposite hill, you will find Saint-Paul, with its world famous inn, “La Colombe d’Or”, and its “Fondation Maeght”, the Mecca of 20th century art. Miro, Chagall, Léger, Braque, Picasso, Cocteau, and several other great artists, actors and writers had regularly visited the place.

A few kilometres away is Vence, the “City of Arts”, with its “Chapelle Matisse”, the artist workshop of Dubuffet, the “Fondation Emile Hugues”. The stone walls of the medieval part of the city still echo with old legends of wolves and shepherds.

Closer to the littoral, the hill fort of Cagnes sur Mer dominates the Mediterranean sea. Its Middle Age castle, “Le Château Grimaldi”, and the Auguste Renoir estate, “Les Collettes”, are worth the visit. You will enjoy ambling leisurely along its sloping and flowery alleys.

From there, you have the choice to head either towards Saint-Jeannet, at the foothill of the famous “baou”, the paradise of rock climbers, or Tourettes sur Loup, the city of violets, or Grasse and its exquisite perfumes, or Biot with its glass artist workshops, or Mougins and its “Festival de la gastronomie”, or Antibes with its world famous Jazz Festival, its “Picasso Museum”, its ramparts and pinewood, or Opio with its oil mills, or Pont du Loup with its candy shops.
